# How to import leads from a Excel file?

You can easily import leads into ReachBoost by uploading an Excel file. This is useful if you already have an existing database of prospects or if you're importing leads from another system.

---

**Step 1 - Start a new import**
Go to **Lead Lists → Add Leads → Select import type**.
Choose **Excel Import**.

---

**Step 2 - Upload your file**
Upload the Excel file containing your leads. ReachBoost will automatically read the file and prepare it for import.

---

**Step 3 - Verify the field mapping**
After uploading the file, make sure all fields are mapped correctly.

For example:
| Excel column | ReachBoost field |
| ------------ | ---------------- |
| First Name | First Name |
| Last Name | Last Name |
| LinkedIn URL | LinkedIn Profile |
| Company | Company Name |
| Email | Email Address |

Incorrect field mapping may result in missing or incorrectly imported data.

---

**Step 4 - Start the import**
Once the mapping is correct, click **Start Import**.

The leads will then be added to your lead list and become available for campaigns.

**Note:** If you plan to use personalization in your campaigns, make sure your Excel file contains as much relevant information as possible, such as company name, location, or custom fields.

---

### Custom fields

When importing via Excel, you can also include your own custom columns.

These fields can later be used as custom variables in your campaigns.
For example: `[[custom_field_1]]` `[[custom_field_2]]` `[[custom_field_3]]`

This allows you to create highly personalized outreach messages based on your imported data.
